This module is useful for construction companies, financing businesses, and other businesses where monthly EMIs or installments need to be received from the customer.

The module facilitates capturing of individual EMI due dates. It takes user input for total amount, no. of installments, per EMI amount, first due date and second due date. Accordingly, bill-wise references are automatically created for each EMI due date. The first and second due dates are as per user input. Subsequent due dates increase monthly based on the second due date.

The bill-wise references use the Voucher no. as the basic bill-wise reference and sequentially add /1, /2 for each EMI. If the no. of installments is high, this module is a big time saver.

This module can be further customized to generate specific MIS reports.

Company News: New customers added in Indore.

Please send your feedback to rajesh_khater@yahoo.com or rajesh@tallyguru.co.in. The new product launch was reason enough for increased customer interest and hence there were no special offers this March for product promotion.

My first impression of Tally.ERP has been positive. Users and administrators are going to like the Control Center and Support Center features. The flagship feature of Tally's ERP is the remote access feature, and businesses will realise the benefit of this feature down the line.

There are a few bottlenecks, though. Like the user getting the Unlock Key in mail after a long delay. With ERP, Tally has introduced a lot of new terminology, especially a lot of 'ID's, e.g your .NET ID, Site ID, Account ID and Account Admin ID. It will take some getting used to for normal users.

Quite a few existing Tally customizations have stopped working in ERP, and even after TCP conversion using the TallyAdmin tool, the TCP either gives load-time error or functional error.

We have migrated our existing TCPs to the ERP platform free of cost for most customers. TDL programmers will have a hectic schedule ahead, with fresh orders as well as migration of existing TDLs to the new platform. Moreover, they also have to get used to the powerful syntax and features of the enhanced TDL language.

A common concern among users interested in Tally customization is what will happen to the customized features when Tally brings a new release or version.

My answer is that in 90% of the new releases or versions, TDLs will run without needing any changes. In case of a major version release, there are chances that TDLs may not work correctly, as in the case of 7.2 to 9 conversion and 9.2 to 9.ERP conversion. However for all other releases in between, TDLs have continued to work smoothly.

Even when customized files do not work in the new version, it requires mostly a few adjustments as per the new language features / capabilities. For this, the user should not worry too much as the charges will be extremely nominal. And so far, we have done the TCP conversion free of cost for our users.

The road ahead for Tally.ERP is extremely bright and you can keep high expectations from the product in the coming months and years.

Company News: New customers added in Ahmedabad & Mathura. We have also started Tally product sales in Delhi (on-site installation service available, support through remote access).

Please send your feedback to rajesh_khater@yahoo.com or rajesh@tallyguru.co.in

Subscribe to this blog to stay updated.Rajesh Khater | Tally.ERP 9 and SAP Business One Expert | TallyGuru | SAPBuffhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00813763281059772967noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-206553886311781159.post-13455230530910959972008-12-28T23:32:00.010+05:302009-04-04T23:26:34.127+05:30Sales Data Analysis in TallyThe analysis of Sales figures is important for any business for a number of benefits:

1. It helps to identify the trends.
2. It pinpoints the most revenue generating products.
3. It highlights the top customers and their purchasing trends.
4. It helps the business in preparing for seasonal variations.

By customizing Tally, it is possible to generate a product-customer sales matrix report which can be exported to Excel for further analysis.

We recently developed a Sales Matrix report for one of our dealers in Nigeria. The report can be further customized as per the specific needs of individual business. We believe this report will be a valuable input for any MIS decision making.

We invite suggestions from readers for any other useful reports / features they can think of in Tally.

A few interesting enquiries came in the last week:

1. Removing all inventory details from a Tally company and converting it into an accounts-only company.

2. Removing all vouchers (accounts as well as inventory) from a Tally company and just maintaining a single day's account in Tally. The solution requires to maintain stock items in Tally and updating their stock on a daily basis. That is, there should be a tool that will read the Closing Stock for every stock item for the day, delete all the transactions data from Tally and make the Closing Balance as the Opening Balance for the next day.

Both the above requirements are possible by developing add-on tools for Tally. Let us see if these enquiries convert into orders for me :) !!

Company News: In the last few weeks, we have added new customers in Jalna (Maharashtra) and Kanpur, along with a lot of new customers in cities where we already have customer base: Hyderabad, Mumbai and Bangalore. With this, our customer/dealer base has grown to 15 cities in India and 23 cities worldwide.

Wishing all the Tally users and readers of this blog a very Happy New Year in advance !

Contact me at: rajesh_khater@yahoo.com or call at +919986057953.

We encourage more readers to subscribe to this blog to get latest posts in their inbox. While purchasing / selling, he wanted the facility to enter the quantity as no. of gross, no. of dozens and no. of pcs.

He approached us for Tally customization. We suggested a solution that takes care of this requirement in default Tally itself without any customization.

The solution uses multiple level of compound units in Tally. You can create 3 simple units, one each for pcs, dozen and gross in Tally. Then create the 1st compound unit: "dozen of 12 pcs". Now you can create another compound unit using the first compound unit as the base. Create a compound unit called "gross of dozen of 12 pcs".

Using this approach, you can enter the quantity as follows:

1. 2-10-5 which means 2 gross, 10 dozens and 5 pieces,
2. 0-5-11 which means 0 gross, 5 dozens and 11 pieces,
3. 0-0-9 which means 0 gross, 0 dozen and 9 pieces.

This solution uses one little known feature of Tally: chaining of compound units.

Hope other readers also find this solution useful.

Mail us your customization enquiries at rajesh_khater@yahoo.com

Happy Tally-ing !Rajesh Khater | Tally.ERP 9 and SAP Business One Expert | TallyGuru | SAPBuffhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00813763281059772967noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-206553886311781159.post-85551555158447423172008-09-02T20:47:00.007+05:302009-04-04T23:30:31.135+05:30Auditing Tools for TallyTally has launched the Auditors Edition of Tally, which will give easy access to auditors/chartered accountants to the data to be audited in Tally.

We also present our very own Auditing Tools for Tally. Its not a ready module as of now but a concept.

If you ever felt the need to enforce certain standards of data entry in Tally and wanted to identify the existing data which do not meet the requirements or the standards, the tool can help you locate such data with ease and help you correct them.

Some examples or features of Auditing Tools are:

1. Find all items in Tally data which have alternate units defined.
2. Find all items in Tally data which dont have alternate units defined.
3. Search all items which have a particular primary or alternate unit.
4. Report of all items with Batches set as "No"
5. Identify Purchase Vouchers without Purchase Order No.
6. Stock Items which dont have Part Nos.
7. Items which dont have pricelist defined for a particular date.
8. Employees who have attendance below some benchmark value.
9. Sales invoices with duplicate voucher numbers (if any), in case of manual numbering.
10. Sales invoices where the bill no. in billwise details is not the same as the Sales voucher no.
11. Filter only deleted/cancelled vouchers in the Tally Audit List.
12. Any invoices which have items with different rates of VAT or Excise Duty.
13. Any invoices in which credit was given for more than 15 days.
14. All invoices/vouchers saved or not saved with a Voucher Class.
15. Any invoices in which discount was given more than certain allowed value.

Any number of other useful auditing points can be incorporated in the tool.

The tool is useful for chartered accountants, auditors, companies wanting to enforce accounting standards in Tally. The tool is also useful for any kind of data correction / rectification exercise.

We welcome the suggestions of chartered accountants and auditors on how the auditing tool can be made more comprehensive.

You can mail me at mailto:rajesh_khater@yahoo.com?subject=AuditingRajesh Khater | Tally.ERP 9 and SAP Business One Expert | TallyGuru | SAPBuffhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00813763281059772967noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-206553886311781159.post-30795576795007520602008-07-26T22:08:00.009+05:302009-02-05T00:52:56.795+05:30Tally Integration with other softwaresOne of our areas of expertise is in linking Tally with your favourite application. The user can have the best of both worlds. He can continue working in his favourite application and yet avoid the need to duplicate data entry in Tally for accounts. Tally integration with other softwares has several possibilities, and can build a highly collaborative system.

Some possibilities:

1. Link Excel to Tally. User can upload any masters / vouchers from Excel to Tally. Examples are stock item master upload, pricelist upload, share market contract note upload, list of ledgers, etc.

2. Oracle to Tally. Several ERPs use Oracle as their database. But Tally has its own little niche in the area of accounts and taxation, specially in Indian context. Now transfer data from ERP to Tally at the click of a button.

3. MS Access / SQL Server to Tally. Transfer data from your favourite inventory / ERP software to Tally.

4. Tally to Excel. Get customized reports the way you want in Excel. No need of rearranging rows and columns, no need of manually doing any special formatting in Excel, no need of referring to several reports/screens in Tally and compiling the data manually. If the data is there in Tally, we will give you the report in Excel !

5. Tally to other databases.

6. Tally to Tally ! Come up with a use or need of linking other applications with Tally and we should be able to give you the solution in most cases.

The options are not limited to the above. You can maintain the database of customers in a single software: Tally, and be in touch with them through SMS / email, etc. by linking Tally with your email software.

We can design ready easy-to-use single-click tools for end-users, and give DLLs to other third party software developers who want to integrate their software with Tally in real-time.

For business enquiries, you can mail me by clicking here.Rajesh Khater | Tally.ERP 9 and SAP Business One Expert | TallyGuru | SAPBuffhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00813763281059772967noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-206553886311781159.post-85317971897062105432008-07-11T22:43:00.008+05:302009-02-05T00:54:09.936+05:30Upload PriceList from Excel to TallyPriceList updation in Tally is now made easy with this Tally Add-On Tool. Synchronization allows to not only view remote location data, but also make any changes to it. Synchronization will ensure up-to-date identical copies of data at any number of locations.

What does Synchronization do ?
1. It pulls all newly entered / altered transactions from the remote Tally data.
2. It pushes all newly entered / altered transactions to the remote Tally data.

Essentially, the data at both the ends will become identical after the synchronization process.

Further, through customization, you can control the synchronization process to synchronize data selectively as per your requirements.

Synchronization and a little bit of customization can open up amazing possibilities in Tally, like:
1. Uploading sales transactions from sales outlet to the HO.
2. Converting Purchase Order of 1 company to Sales Order of another company.
3. Pushing a centrally decided PriceList to all branch locations, etc.

It can help you:
1. to exercise greater control over Tally data.
2. supervise and audit / correct Tally data from a remote location.

We can now setup synchronization between any locations anywhere in India or abroad, using remote access technologies.

If you have any queries on the possibilities in Tally synchronization, do mail us at rajesh_khater@yahoo.com.Rajesh Khater | Tally.ERP 9 and SAP Business One Expert | TallyGuru | SAPBuffhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00813763281059772967noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-206553886311781159.post-80547557657497130862008-01-12T16:50:00.001+05:302008-09-06T00:10:28.681+05:30Help on Tally is just a call awayWe are now starting Tally support in Bangalore in a big way.

Although tally is a very robust software with few maintenance issues, customers do occasionally get stuck and need urgent help.

Accounts being a core business activity, help needs to be prompt and effective.

Customers sometimes need support on issues like:

1. Tally password recovery
2. Splitting of large company data
3. Synchronization of head office data with branch data
4. Usage of Group company feature for consolidation of individual companies' data
5. Internal error problem in Tally
6. License becoming educational after hard disk format/crash.
7. The last few months were very hectic with good order inflow, and a lot of marketing activities. GoGold scheme was a big success and now we are trying to repeat the success in the Pragati scheme. We have now added quite a few big clients in our clientele-list.

I got my first order for Barcode sticker printing last month. I did some research and now I have developed a module which can print barcode stickers for all the items in an Invoice or Delivery Note, etc. One sticker will get printed for each unit of an item.

This is a huge convenience to barcode users, who can now get all barcode related stuff in Tally. By default, Tally can only map barcoded codes to item names or anything else. But there is no in-built facility to generate barcode stickers. This module is a demonstration of barcode-printing capabilities of Tally.

If you feel you can market this feature, do get in touch with me at rajesh_khater@yahoo.comRajesh Khater | Tally.ERP 9 and SAP Business One Expert | TallyGuru | SAPBuffhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00813763281059772967noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-206553886311781159.post-60977645580158620522007-06-13T06:15:00.000+05:302007-06-13T06:24:04.282+05:30Last Sold Item Rate in TallyThe PriceList feature in Tally is great for keeping track of your prices for each customer or group of customers.

However, there are businesses where the prices change frequently and it is not feasible to maintain a pricelist every time. Also, sometimes even though you maintain a pricelist, still you may need to change the price on a case-to-case basis for a particular party.

These are the situations where the "Last Sold Item Rate" module is useful.

With this module, Tally will automatically show the rate at which you sold the selected item to the selected party last time. No matter when the party last purchased this item from you - it could be yesterday or it could be a year ago, still the module will automatically fill the Rate column with the Last Sold rate. Of course, you can modify this rate for the current transaction.

If this sounds useful to you, send me a mail at rajesh_khater@yahoo.com for more details.Rajesh Khater | Tally.ERP 9 and SAP Business One Expert | TallyGuru | SAPBuffhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00813763281059772967noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-206553886311781159.post-25681185396735196122007-06-11T13:59:00.000+05:302007-06-11T14:04:05.596+05:30Tally 7.2 still availableFor users who are still looking for Tally 7.2, there is good news, as some old stock is available here and there, including myself.

Tally 7.2 version is sufficient for people with simple accounting needs, but keep in mind that new updates are available only for version 9.

So who will buy 7.2 ? Users who already have 7.2 at one of their branches will need an identical version at other branches for data interoperability.

Also, there is a good price difference between versions 7.2 and 9, so price conscious users will find 7.2 sufficient for their simple accounting needs.

Drop me a mail at rajesh_khater@yahoo.com if you are looking to buy Tally 7.2 or Tally 9.Rajesh Khater | Tally.ERP 9 and SAP Business One Expert | TallyGuru | SAPBuffhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00813763281059772967noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-206553886311781159.post-34891878243541214502007-06-08T13:15:00.000+05:302007-06-08T13:17:18.620+05:30Easy PriceList module in TallyTally allows you to create pricelist of items for different parties. But this feature lacks an important navigation feature.

Tally forces you to select a stock group or All Items for which to create the pricelist. If each stock group has several hundred items, and you want to change or enter the price of a particular item, you have to scroll down the list one by one until you arrive at the right item.

Now this problem can be solved by customization. The customized PriceList module can add a button for searching for a particular item, and show only that item in the screen. After you are done with this item, save the PriceList and again choose a different item.

Note that this customization is useful only if you want to change / alter the price of specific items in a group. If you have to enter the prices of all the items in the group, then the default Tally PriceList feature will suffice for you.

For screenshots and business enquiries, pls. send me a mail at rajesh_khater@yahoo.comRajesh Khater | Tally.ERP 9 and SAP Business One Expert | TallyGuru | SAPBuffhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00813763281059772967noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-206553886311781159.post-79812601708348782302007-05-22T10:14:00.002+05:302008-07-11T21:30:18.717+05:30Automatic Bank Reconciliation module in TallyBank Reconciliation is an important, time-consuming activity for businesses with large volumes of cheque receipts and payments.

Until now, Tally users have to manually reconcile the bank a/c by looking up each and every cheque no. in the Bank's statement and then filling up the Bank Date column in Tally with the date in the Bank's statement.

This process can now be automated by the Automatic Bank Reconciliation module. All you need is to request your bank to give the statement in Excel format. Many banks already do this.

You can configure the Automatic Bank Reconciliation module to work with ANY bank's Excel statement.

What is more, this module can also indicate where the cheque no. matches but the amount does not match, indicating an error in data entry in Tally.

For screenshots and business enquiries, just drop me a mail with your contact details.Rajesh Khater | Tally.ERP 9 and SAP Business One Expert | TallyGuru | SAPBuffhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00813763281059772967noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-206553886311781159.post-35916331917081940642007-05-08T20:35:00.001+05:302008-07-11T21:28:56.369+05:30Voucher Type Security module in TallyYou can enhance your Tally experience by buying a few customized modules. One of the hot favourites with users is the Voucher Type Security module.

This module allows the administrator to configure which user can create / alter / view a particular type.

For example, using this feature, you can give create / alter rights to User1 for Purchase and Sales voucher type; and give only View rights to User2.

You can configure the rights for each and every voucher type, even user-defined voucher types !
For more queries, send a mail to: rajesh_khater@yahoo.comRajesh Khater | Tally.ERP 9 and SAP Business One Expert | TallyGuru | SAPBuffhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00813763281059772967noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-206553886311781159.post-27410364521186805582007-04-20T21:32:00.000+05:302007-04-20T21:43:25.984+05:30Tally for Medicine Shops - Wholesellers & RetailersTally announced long ago that it is launching the Tally Chemist software for medicine wholesellers and retailers.

While it is still nowhere on the horizon, we have come up with a customization module to cover a small gap in Tally due to which medicine dealers are not able to use Tally.

Although Tally supports Batches, there is no facility to enter manufacturer name of a batch.

We have given this facility in our customized module, so that you can enter manufacturer name when you purchasing some medicine, and the same will get automatically carried when you prepare a Sales invoice for the same medicine and batch.

Other features of this module: separate field for medicine packing like 100 ml or 500 ml, so you can create 2 stock items with same medicine name but different packing. Display of MRP & Free Quantity in the printed invoice in separate columns (not separate lines).

If you are interested, drop me a mail with your contact details.Rajesh Khater | Tally.ERP 9 and SAP Business One Expert | TallyGuru | SAPBuffhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00813763281059772967noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-206553886311781159.post-2572915352491509322007-04-20T21:17:00.000+05:302007-04-20T21:25:22.766+05:30Golden Opportunity to Buy / Sell TallyApril 2007 - Tally has decided to increase the price of Tally 9 Single User and Multi user software.

Last time when Tally increased the price of Tally 7.2 as a marketing gimmick to hurry the sales of Tally, the increased price rise never came into effect and only served to push the undecided buyer into buying Tally immediately.

Because a lot of dealers were holding stocks, they continued to sell Tally at old prices only, offering "discounts" on the new revised MRP.

However, this time it is learnt that there is very limited stock of Tally 9 in the market, and the price rise will come into effect sooner than later.

Already the distributors have increased the prices by Rs. 1000 in some cases, and the prices are going to rise even more in the coming weeks.

So this is a golden opportunity to sell Tally, if you can pick whatever stock you can, at the old rates. Also, this is a golden (last) opportunity in a sense for the buyer, coz after that, for the forseeable future, Tally will come at a higher rate.Rajesh Khater | Tally.ERP 9 and SAP Business One Expert | TallyGuru | SAPBuffhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00813763281059772967noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-206553886311781159.post-5500753313635203702007-04-01T20:05:00.000+05:302007-04-01T20:19:27.525+05:30Excise on Opening stock in Tally 9 Release 1.1Tally 9 is enabled with Excise for Dealers. However, there is one caveat.

There seems to be no straightforward option to enter the excise purchase details of opening stock.

Here is the workaround:

1. On 1st April, pass a Purchase invoice in Tally showing the full purchase as per the original bill. While entering Supplier's Bill No. and Date, enter the correct Date which can be back-dated.

2. Consolidate all the sales which you have made out of the items purchased, and pass a single Sales invoice on 1st April with Party Name as Cash.

3. The side-effect of 1 and 2 above will be that Sundry Creditors will increase and Cash will also increase. To counter that, pass a normal Debit note for the Sundry Creditor and Credit Note for Cash (dont use Invoice Mode, i.e. dont give Stock Item details).

4. Now when viewing the Purchase and Sales Register, the entries created in 1 and 2 above will need to be hidden using Alt-R.

Of course, this is a stop-gap solution until Tally comes up with a proper solution in a future release.

If you have any better approach, feel free to post here.Rajesh Khater | Tally.ERP 9 and SAP Business One Expert | TallyGuru | SAPBuffhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00813763281059772967noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-206553886311781159.post-55033491161948581602007-03-29T23:57:00.000+05:302007-04-01T20:19:27.526+05:30About this BlogDear Reader,

This blog is an attempt to share my knowledge of Tally with you, and also present some case studies where we have successfully implemented Tally to meet complex accounting requirements.

Let me introduce myself.
